To date, Port Hill Marine Ltd has been involved in a variety of noteworthy projects. Amongst these is The North Sea Link (NSL). This exciting and ongoing project currently sees Statnett and National Grid North Sea Link Ltd working together to construct a new electricity link between Norway and the UK.
It is on course to be operational from 2021. Once complete, the interconnector will be the longest subsea interconnector in the world. Port Hill Marine Ltd was involved at the project’s inception and on the initial route survey. We provided an FLO for the project and were also responsible for part of the route planning. By overlaying the initial route on to North Sea fishing vessel plotters, we were able to avoid some extensive fishing areas, streamlining the project. Once the cable laying started, Seagard, a sister company of Port Hill Marine, took over the monitoring of the cable along with the supply of Guard Vessels.
